Introducing The Authority In JBSKATING

Pharaoh is the man behind the very first award and award show that recognizes roller skating professionals. October 2025 is the first year of the JBGODS Rose Awards, it’s an exclusive event where attendees participate by invitation only. Award nominees and award winners are chosen by a group of their peers, much like the Recording Academy at the Grammys. Pharaoh has created an organization, JBGODS, which allows skaters and skate professionals to become voting members.

Pharaoh has been a JBSKATER for 11 years. He has trained with some of the most skilled and well versed instructors out of Chicago. He has taken that knowledge and turned it into the authoritative company, team, music entity and brand, JBGODS.

The Skate Park Under The Kennedy

According to a recent story from CBS Chicago, posted on their YouTube channel, their is a skate park that sits under an overpass that has been there since 2009. Noel Brennan of CBS Chicago introduces us to Mark Heller who supports this skate park and has done so for 23 years. Heller believes that this area can become full of activity, maybe become a bustling hotspot for skaters. He hopes to expand the park, making it much like the popular Lot 11 skate park in under the i95 in Miami.

According to Mark, supporters and local leaders have helped raised up to $800,000 for this project. It’s an interesting one. The land surrounding the area belongs to the Illinois Department of Transportation. We’ll continue checking in with Mark to see how things go.

Skate Chicago Is Coming To The City in August

Skate Chicago is a free street skate event for inline skaters and quad skaters that happens in August. The event will be held in downtown from the 14th to the 17th. This is a free event, however, Skate Chicago requires participants to sign the waiver and register ahead of time.

Does Pharaoh Skate At Any Skate Parties

No, Pharaoh does not skate in any skate parties anymore. He thinks they are crowded and they don’t prioritize JBSKATING. Pharaoh gets exactly what he wants and needs from the regular skate sessions in Chicago. To Pharaoh, skate parties are more expensive session with less space and opportunity to skate. There is barely any room on the skate floor. “No thanks,” – Pharaoh, JBGODS

Does Pharaoh Skate In Any Battles

The GodKing Pharaoh does not skate in any battles. He has a very specific agenda for his name and for the JBGODS brand. In order to adhere to that agenda, he does not accept any challenges to skate battles.

If you feel like you are doing the same moves over and over again, don’t worry. It’s normal. We are all doing the same moves over and over again. This shouldn’t discourage you. There is also nothing wrong with spending time learning new material. Learning from other skaters will get you out of that some old bag to some degree.

Normally, you would see Pharaoh and the JBGODS at Glenwood on Monday and Wednesday nights. Now with its doors closed, you are more likely to see the Gods at the Rink on 87th. The same can be said for many skaters who normally frequent Glenwood. Traffic has started to migrate to the Rink. The question is, how long will this last??
